Children’s tales collection of German origin fairy tales were first published in 1812 by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. It had popularised fairy tales which had in part been taken from the Italian fairy tale writers G. Basile and G.-F. Straparola.
The text of this book is based on the edition of “Grimm’s household tales with the author’s notes” by Jakob Ludwig Karl Grimm, translated into English by Margaret Hunt (G. Bell & Sons, London, 1910, 564 Pages). The Margaret Hunt’s translation had been done very true and close to the German original.
